VICTORIA DAY LONG WEEKEND IN CANADA

This weekend really rocks. It is the time to go to your cottage or plant your garden or just chill to enjoy one extra day away from work. Many young Canadians may not know who Queen Victoria was. She was the longest reigning Queen of the Commonwealth who is being challenged by Queen Elizabeth the Second who is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this year. Even Prince Charles and his wife Camilla are visiting Canada to help us celebrate. There are always fireworks on Monday. The ones closest to us will be at Canada's Wonderland- home of the Roller Coasters and other fun stuff. I just love it as it marks the beginning of the long weekends over the next few months. As the days are getting longer, the renewed energy and desire to be outside help with the enjoyment of the season. It also sets us aside from the Americans. We are part of North America but do have our own identity and connections. They are great neighbours to have. Until 2011- 911 we did not even need much ID to cross the border. Different but positve allies! So here's to Queen Victoria and our current reigning one- Elizabeth! Did you know in British history when a woman ruled there were many cultural and social changes and history was significant? Queen Elizabeth the First was an amazing woman! Look up her history and see! Happy long weekend everyone! Hope you are enjoying yours as I am enjoying mine!
