DOES ANYONE ELSE LIKE SAPPY HALLMARK MOVIES AND MILITARY REUNIONS

In these hard covid days and world events and other tragic items on the new find solace in sappy Hallmark movies!!

The same theme and kiss at the end.

The military reunions surprising a family member also make me happy for that family.

So does anyone else watch them for some momentary pleasure in their life?

JUNE 30 DESIGNATED A DAY OF LISTENING FOR RECONCILIATION

With more unmarked graves and knowing more will be found in other residential schools, a time to listen and reflect.

Many radio stations are having survivors tell their stories and thoughts.

So no opinion but to listen.

But I must tell you it is not new history to me.

I studied Indian or as it is now called Indigenous History in High School and University.

We studied about native culture in Grade 7 and 8 Social Studies not just Canadian but all North America like the Aztecs in Mexico.

We can heal together.

My bookshelf is full of books over 50 years of history and art.

So new thinking but also been aware.

I have native art on my walls.

I always thought to buy the books, the art, the jewelry was one way to be inclusive and diverse.

The number to call if needed for support is 1-866-925-4419

What about you? What are you doing for reflection?

MILKWEEDS ARE FOR THE MONARCH BUTTERFLIES

As most of you know I call my garden a jungle because it is.

In my front beds are about 12 milk weed plants.

I always have them to encourage the monarch butterflies.

I rarely see a butterfly actually in my milk weeds.

That is until yesterday. I saw one fluttering from plant to plant.

Yeah so maybe I will see more this summer.

26,700 VACCINATIONS- TORONTO ONTARIO CANADA

It was a banner day. June 27 2021.

26700 vaccinations at Scotiabank Arena. A record for most vaccinations in one day in Canada, North America and perhaps the world.

Toronto you did it.

Team at Scotiabank you did it.

Everyone who turned out, you did it!!

Hope.

Optimism.

We are on the road to a new day.

TORONTO'S PRIDE EVENTS MAKE TORONTO PROUD

For the second year due to covid, Pride events needed to be cancelled.

So virtual parade.

Eating at patio establishments..

Honouring the community subdued.

So here's to being aware of our LGBTQ community and all their needs.

MEGA VACCINATION CLINIC AT SCOTIA BANK ARENA IN TORONTO ONTARIO CANADA-GO TEAM

They hope to give 25000 plus vaccines today in a mega campaign to roll the vaccination process along in Toronto.

A wonderful way to celebrate Canada and all its good.

The arena can hold thousands more. But the clinic runs over 12 hours so there will not be that many at the same time.

I love it.

Being double vaxxed there is a real freedom.

Yes I will follow all public health protocols for a long time.

Waiting for my younger grandchildren to be able to get vaccinated.

So here's to all providing the backup and care for this MEGA da.

GARDEN NEEDED RAIN BUT ALL MY WEEDING WAS FUTILE

It seems as soon as one wild flower completes its course and I pluck the dead plants from the beds, another one takes over the garden.

So a heavy rain last night, I am sure will bring another round of heavy weeding for me.

Now my tiger lillies are in bloom in my backyard jungle.

Lots of birds and butterflies are my companions.

ON THE ROAD TO DOUBLE VAXXED

So the new word is double vaxxed.

It is a good one.

Family and friends are rolling along with the second shot.

It is a good thing.

For family.

For community.

For the province.

For the country.

For the world.

So keep getting double vaxxed people.

REMEMBERING

So a year has passed. And we survived all its ups and downs.

The good times- there were many. The bad times- they were endured.

Miss you today. Miss you forever.

JUNE AND ITS OPENING TO SUMMER FUN

 Birthday celebrations are coming along.

A bittersweet week for our family.

First Father's Day without Adolph.

Celebrating the other dads in our lives.

First anniversary of his death.

So bitter he is not here. But sweet we had him in our lives for so long.

So summer and ability to be outside will give us some needed relaxation, reflection and joy.

For me writing, organizing photos, crafts, reading outside so I can complete my 10 book goal for summer and well taking whatever comes my way.

What are your summer plans? With Covid restrictions starting to change, are you going to be out and about??

SUMMER SOLSTICE AND NEW BEGINNINGS

With summer here, there is a new energy in the air. Summer Solstice! The longest day!

Lockdowns lifting across the country and around the world. Cautiously is the best route.

Still public health protocols but now we are able to follow them wisely.

Families starting to have double vaccines so feeling safer. Friends and neighbours having double vaccines. Communities having lower covid numbers. Hospitals are breathing again.

Summer is a time for outdoor eating, picnics, day trips and longer trips, backyard barbecues, outdoor concerts but now some on drive in concerts, swimming in lakes and pools, and whatever fun you can muster.

We all just want to get to the top of the hill!!

All these activities can be done with protocols and be fun.

I had a country drive with family yesterday. Masks in the car and off as we wandered around the farm and woods area. A simple day trip but fun in its own way.

I loved the peace and quiet of the area. A good place for quiet reflection.

How are your summer plans? Are you trying to embrace the small joys of life?

ALL VACCINES OFFER GOOD PROTECTION

As the dust starts to settle on vaccines, be reassured according to health experts all vaccines give a good outcome of protection.

Yes AZ has had some controversy but two doses give good protection.

The whole nonsense about the US not accepting it on a vaccine passport will be worked out eventually.

Some other countries have used different vaccines like China and Russia so will there be an universal acceptance- if vaccinated you are good to go.

Just glad people are getting vaccinated that's all.

GARDEN BEAUTIES-WHITE AND PURPLE

Flowering bushes and garden beauties make June a colourful time.

Some wild flowers that adorn the green.

The Snowball bush with its lovely white.
My purple Iris.
An out of focus Iris with the jungle background.

Oh those purple images. The bees and butterflies love their purple flowers.

How is your garden looking these days?

JUNE MOVING ALONG AND HOPE FOR MORE OPENINGS

With June seeing more vaccinations everywhere- local, provincial, national, world- well life seems to be emerging.

Like the butterfly from the cocoon! We are finding our wings and maybe can fly.

Well not quite there. But seeming to feel like there is an end to the tunnel. Not a light yet.

I will wear a mask. And distance. And wash my hands until the cows come home. No problem.

To be able to connect with others again is the joy.

Sure ZOOM has done its thing. Meetings prevailed.

Social. To be social. Well it is important to me.

Living alone means those social connections have more meaning.

So here we go June- keep moving along!

How are you doing in your area? Are you feeling like life is slowly returning?

EARLY MORNING RISING

The construction on the street had a machine being floated at 4 am. So I got up to greet the day.

A cup of coffee and watched the sun rise.

Listened to the birds and the sounds of the day beginning.

Thinking about my limited plans for the day.

What else could I get accomplished?

Hard to believe June seems to be rushing by!!

How about you? How is your June going? Are you making summer plans right now?

THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER

So with cremation and no grave site, how to honour Adolph.

So put a plaque on a park bench.

It was the park where Adolph and I take the grandchildren near our house to play.

It was called Grandpa's park by the grandchildren.

And well it still is!

IS NOT HAVING AN OPINION ABOUT EVERYTHING OKAY??

It seems that too much is said about everything.

A post on Twitter or Facebook or an Instagram setting can bring lots of opinions.

Why not just acknowledge. Read your post. It helps those making a living to have comments.

But they do not have to be opinion comments.

Lately I just emoj a comment. Let's the person know I am with them.

I like hearts. They work. If there is sadness let's that person know thinking of them.

Also safer on Twitter to say very little too. Lots of Trolls ready to pounce.

I do have lots of thoughts or opinions in my head. But I feel more inclined to try to listen and be with a person rather than needing to jump in to hear the sound of my voice.

So do you have an opinion about this post?

AS OUTDOOR PATIOS OPEN REMEMBER TO TIP WELL

I love to go out occasionally.

So with patios open for dining remember these businesses need all our support.

Be a good tipper to your server!

It has been a dry spell for them.

MORNING WALKS REJUVENATE THE SOUL

Getting out and walking before too many people hit the streets helps with the start of a joyous day. It is the one that includes a hill. Good for the legs.

I like to encounter few people when I walk.

The physical distancing can be tricky. Not needing to wear the mask I have around my wrist keeps me free.

My walk is mostly just for exercise. The faster I walk the faster I return home.

My body feels it.

Sometimes I try to relish in the moment and listen to all the sounds around me. There are several bird species that chirp and sing in one field I go by.

The traffic sounds hum along on one stretch along Major Mackenzie. I like to get away from that stretch quickly as I am too visible to others.

I do not wear any tight, skimpy gear for my walks. I am not trying to make a fashion statement.

So I am trying to get out earlier every day so I can start on my other duties of the day.

My afternoon walk is on a flat surface and has some trees for shade. The noon sun can be quite hot at times.

Walking is easy. Now to try to include some stretches and weights in my daily routine is next.

How about you? Do you like walking? If so how far do you go?

SUPPORT AND LOVE TO THE MUSLIM COMMUNITIES ACROSS CANADA

I do not want to get on the band wagon.

I just want to write I care.

The situation in London was intolerable.

Love, support and solidarity to the Muslim Canadians coast to coast.

FLOWERS INSPIRE CRAFTS- A SUNFLOWER

I love to work in different mediums.

Photography.

Knitting.

Crocheting.

Sewing.

So a picture of a sunflower inspired me to make a Sunflower picture.

Crocheting and knitting the features.

Need to buy a rod for hanging it.

Working on the project. Making sure to match my threads of all the colours.

Brown, Green, Yellow.

It is very textured which I like in projects. I try to be more flexible and not too precise in how I place the pieces on the hanging.

So on to the next project.

JUNE 6 -REMEMBERING D-DAY

June 6 1944 Canadians stormed Juno Beach.

Other Allied forces stormed beaches at Normandy.

It is quiet there today.

It reminds us that sacrifices made in history benefit us today.

Our democracy survived. So let's be good citizens in their honour.

Thanks to all that served. We will not forget you.

BARB'S GENEALAOGY TIDBITS-STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR ONTARIO ANCESTORS CONFERENCE

Taking a pause from the Conference to catch some rays of sunshine.

Lots of interesting information.

I miss the in person dialogue with other genealogists though.

ZOOM works so activities can happen.

But hopefully next year it will be in person.

SECOND COVID-19 VACCINE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

I would have waited patiently for my second dose of Pfizer in July.

But York Region opened vaccines to over 70 a couple of days ago, I booked and today was the day.

Joyous.

Relieved.

Grateful to all that made the vaccine possible. The volunteers, staff and others at the clinic who ushered us through a smooth process.

Now my spot in July can be given to someone else and with the domino effect everyone gets bumped along to getting the JAB sooner.

How is your vaccine rollout going!

BEING ON THE BAND WAGON ABOUT KAMLOOPS NEEDS TO CONTINUE AS THE DUST SETTLES

As a history buff and retired Social Worker the information about mass graves is not new in Canadian history.

So many people are shocked and commenting.

My fear is when the dust settles, will the concerns continue. Or is it just a current news event and we will go on to the next one.

For the survivors it has triggered many responses. Trauma for an individual never ends. Moving on occurs but the trauma lives in that person.

So being respectful of all the emotions triggered for our Indigenous communities needs to be paramount. Listening with an open mind and heart.

Some are asking for A Day of Mourning. It would be a good thing.

I do not want to have the answers but want to respect what would have meaning for those who have experienced the traumas.

What do you think? How have you responded to the current news? How do we honour the little souls lost?
