END OF OCTOBER- TIME FOR CHRISTMAS AND WINTER PREPARATIONS

 Time to clean the garage.

Time to think about Christmas lights.

Two November birthdays.

Time for an Arts Festival.

Will there be some church bazaars?

What fun will there be?

October has been a good month. Not all projects finished. Not all projects started.

But some things done. Some things needing to be done.

So goodbye October. It has been nice knowing you!!

HALLOWEEN TODAY- HAVE FUN

For children, Halloween is such a fun time.

Dressing up.

Sugar high from too much candy.

I am looking forward to the children coming to my door.

The costumes are so cute.

The children are so cute.

I never minded older children coming around. It means they are staying out of trouble.

So Happy Halloween everyone!!

READY FOR A REAL HALLOWEEN AGAIN- WELL MOSTLY

I plant to give out Halloween treats safely.

Wear a mask.

Put wipes and sanitizer outside.

Keep my distance.

I made little goodie bags for the kids.

I am glad some degree of normalcy has returned.

How about you? Are you ready for Halloween?

THE LANGUAGE OF MUSKOKA CHAIRS

 Muskoka chairs are so Canadian.

Meetings.
By the beach.
On a deck.
At the Exhibition.
At Grand River.
Pan Am Games.
Finding those chairs at Farmer's markets.
Niagara Winery.
Where do you find your Muskoka Chairs?

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO-I CAN DO BETTER OR NOT

The need for everyone to know everything about everything permeates in the TV media.

Newscasters and talk show hosts and others try to come across like they know everything or have done everything.

For example, the plane landing on the 407 yesterday. The pilot was experienced and amazing.

So what happens one of the hosts on CTV had to talk about her pilot training and how they were taught about emergency landings etc.

Not an experienced pilot but a morning talk host.

Talk show hosts or news show hosts are not influencers. They report, ask questions and discuss.

Is anyone else tired of the need for so many to have a story about everything.

Or anything you can do I can do better or have done better or know better!!

Thoughts??

EARLY RISING MAKES FOR A LONG DAY

Waking at 5 AM most days now for some reason makes for a long day.

So an early rising it is!

Rather than lay in bed and think about things, I get up.

Make coffee.

Listen to the radio then CTV news from the night previously.

Washed, dressed and ready for the day at 610 AM.

Staying motivated to get things done is so difficult. There are many tasks to do but so many of them are boring. Like garden cleanup. The garage to make room for my car over the winter.

So being ready for the day gives me a false sense to tackle those tasks.

As I age I have the sense not to waste a day. I have life so make the best use of it.

COVID kept us at home and away from places, people and enjoyable outings. It is time to rejoin life- safely.

Finishing projects is a go. I do like an uncluttered house. So trying to tidy as I go.

How about you? Do you rise early? How do you tackle the tasks in your life?

WRITING A COVID STORY

Covid has been around for over 18 months now.

So I am writing up my Covid story.

Using pictures taken over the last 18 months.

My personal events. My family thoughts.

Using my locale of Richmond Hill and not further abreast.

No pictures of nurses or staff in ICU.

Community pictures of signs and times.

Examples.

A closed down playground.

Thank you signs popping up everywhere.

And so the time has gone by.

So yesterday determining what was missing from my story went out and about capturing additional photos. Mr. Greek and Mexican Amigas were two patios where I went with family to eat outside. Entered masked. Sat down distanced from others.

As happens with history, this too shall pass. So having the images from our stories of covid has been a project.

How about you? How are you recording your covid story? What thoughts? What images?

Would you consider writing one for future generations in your family?

IS YOUR LIFE IN ORDER?

Being in order does bring some calm to a busy life!

Knowing what tasks need to be done.

Neat and simple!

Order is relative however.

Also necessary to be prepared for a crisis or unforeseen event!

Having many areas in your life helps you to be able to deal with the unexpected better!

OCTOBER FLYING BY-GETTING TASKS DONE

October is one of those Fall months that one thinks there is so much time to get activities done.

Thanksgiving with the cleaning and meal preparation is such a doable festive time.

Most of the tasks are work. Like garden cleanup. I had a tap replaced which was more of a half day than an hour job.

The start of serious Christmas shopping. I have been out once to Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket. But online shopping for availability of items is still easier to do.

Birthdays in November will be fun. Along with community events.

I feel though with only a week and a bit left to the month that I need to pick up speed in what needs to be done.

The Halloween candies are bought so just need to organize some little bags for the trick and tweeters. I plan to put out wipes and hand sanitizer for the little ones and parents for reassurance.

So I will move along and see where the month takes me.

TRYING A NEW PERSPECTIVE BRINGS NEW ENERGY

Who really likes being in a rut?

Safe.
Predicable.
Realiable.

So could be the reason not to try change of any kind.
So looking at a life from a new angle can give that new perspective.
Well go on. Give it a try.

A POSTCARD FROM WAIKIKI 1970

While on our honeymoon May 1971 I bought this oversize postcard.

It has the names of the hotels and resorts on Waikiki.

Wonder how many still have the same name?

You know it is Vintage. Over 50 years old!!

I guess it means I am vintage too.

VACCINE CERTIFICATES REALLY WORK-THE SYSTEM WORKS

So printed up my vaccine certificate last Friday. Easy. Took a couple of minutes.

Put it in plastic covering. Folded neatly so the scan showed.
Followed advice not to damage the scan.
Went to my first event.
The staff buzzed the scan and a green tick appeared.
I was good to go.
So following the health care protocols continues to be the best option.
Yes the Certificate has Ontario logo in one corner at the top and Canada logo at the other corner.

So good to go for International travel.
Guess what naysayers the system works.

Have a good day.

FUN AT THE FARM

A day out at a local farm with daughter and two grandchildren. Round the Bend in Kettleby had a good well spaced outdoor space for everyone.

The kids like feeding the animals especially the rabbits.
Two hours passed so quickly.
Nice to be somewhere that is not so crowded and outdoors. Masks available when needed.

3400 POSTS TO DATE

Posting takes some creativity and lots of ideas. Repeating some old ideas or seasonal themes.

When I started blogging I did not know how I would come up another idea for another day.

So to be at 3400 posts. It seems a little incredulous.

I enjoy blogging as it keeps me looking for themes, ideas, photos. It gives me an opportunity to use my writing skills.

So I will plug away to post number 3401.

CROCHETING A LOG CABIN QUILT

The log cabin pattern is one of my favourite quilt patterns.

So I decided trying a crocheted version. 13 different pieces or variety of colours in the blanket version. For this one shades of purple and orange with a peach one in the middle.

The center is always a bit lighter.
Add a third.
Add a fourth aand fifth.

Now for number 6.
Number 7.
Number 8.
Number 9. See the pattern. The next row is bigger than the last one
Number 10.
Number 11.
Number 12

Number 13.

The assembling of the squares can vary depending on the design preferred.

Sewing in all the ends an putting a double border around the outside and the blanket is done.
Orange and purple are healing colours. Besides I used up lots of balls of wool available.
Now it is time to make another material quilt.
