Being single has its merits. Newly divorced, never married, widower/widow,out of home for the first time on your own, trying to find yourself! Becoming a couple means bringing two different beings together with two different views of the world. If male and female-definitely two different views. Gay couples may have it easier-at least there are not gender differences! Opposites do attract and can make interesting combinations. If one is tough and the other soft, makes for a good combination- need both. As long as there are no power inbalances or abuse! What works for some couples, definitely will not work for others! Relationships evolve over time. What we wanted in our 20's can change in our 40's and change again in our 60's! Life experiences change the couple and relationship- grow together or grow apart or some just coast! When one person dies, can leave the surviving mate feeling lost!
