LIFE FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE

While sitting at my kitchen table near the door at a different spot where I normally sit, the view of my house and garden changed. Sometimes changing the view gives a different perspective. Imagine what the baby or toddler sees from their angle! A Triangle with its 3 points often lets us graph a problem! By seeing things from each of the points, it helps to find solutions. In a planning group, there is always someone who wants to play the "Devil's Advocate" to see the flaws! In any argument, trying to understand the opposite viewpoint is a challenge. Lawyers are good at it! Trying to see life from a different angle can make it interesting! Helps with the boredom factor! If everything stays the same all the time, well you get it! Too much change is too difficult! I do not mean grief change but little things in our daily life that we may want a different angle. A new route to work! Trying a new market! Checking out a little community! Adding a new colour to the wardrobe! In a relationship, trying to see life from the partner's perspective. Men and women understanding there are differences-trying to see the other's view of life. Men like sports and women like romance movies! Now what do you do with the points on an octagon! Lots of different angles!!

TWO BETTER THAN ONE?

Being single has its merits. Newly divorced, never married, widower/widow,out of home for the first time on your own, trying to find yourself! Becoming a couple means bringing two different beings together with two different views of the world. If male and female-definitely two different views. Gay couples may have it easier-at least there are not gender differences! Opposites do attract and can make interesting combinations. If one is tough and the other soft, makes for a good combination- need both. As long as there are no power inbalances or abuse! What works for some couples, definitely will not work for others! Relationships evolve over time. What we wanted in our 20's can change in our 40's and change again in our 60's! Life experiences change the couple and relationship- grow together or grow apart or some just coast! When one person dies, can leave the surviving mate feeling lost! What works in your relationship, marriage? Why do you like to be part of a couple?

CANADIAN CULTURAL DIVERSITY

People from the same culture can be recognized by many traits- language, dress, food, manners. There are so many different cultural groups and sub-groups within those groups. What is culture- ethnicity, religion, rural vs urban, gender, disability, age, sexual preference, citizenship, in Canada- your provincial identity to name a few! The boundaries can be blurred at times. We all can belong to various sub-groups.

Regardless, everyone has their own individuality that needs to be seen. Can we say do not judge me by my identified group? How do you identify yourself? I am Canadian- not a hyphenated Canadian. However, others want to be a hyphenated Canadian! Can we be both- of course! Depending on the situation, we can define ourselves the way we want! We are part of a group and an individual simultaneously!

POLITICS IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES

Do you know people that say I don't like politics. I avoid it! Whether you like it or not politics is everywhere. Political parties- who do you vote for? Sexual politics- male versus female. Office politics. Club politics. Group politics. City versus country politics. Provincial politics- my province is better than your province!!! Youth versus old age politics. Hospital politics. Family politics. The politics of conversation! University politics. It is important to protect your back by understanding politics. A dictionary definition tells us it is the art and science of government; or an organizational process or principle affecting authority, status. We all could give our own definition and what it means to us. How you tried to avoid politics in your life? Have there been times it has hurt you? Have you ever been caught off guard then enmeshed in political areas of your life? Tell my what you think!
