BOOMER BARBARA ROCKS RETIREMENT- ATTENDING COMMUNITY INFORMATION EVENTS HELP

Although I have a incredible amount of knowledge about health and social services and community agencies, I decided to attend two events this week.
The Caregiver show held at the Sheraton in Markham on Sunday September 8 and the information session at the Mc  Conaghy Centre in Richmond Hill.
There is always something to check out in the community.
Besides being a Senior and admitting it now, finding where other Seniors hang out is important too.
The social isolation of staying home can be overcome by not staying home.
These two events were close to home so no real investment in travel time.
At both events I ran into people I knew so could have a good chat.
There are many things I do not need yet. Knowing where to reach out is a good thing.
I like the idea of drop in places. Go when you feel like it. Some classes cost money but that is okay.
So I will be on the lookout for more community based events.
