THE AWARDS SEASON IS ON

With the Critic Choice and last night with the Golden Globes, the awards season for film and TV is well underway. The film Argo mentioned the Canadian embassy in Iran- nice shoutout for our country! Watching celebrities in fabulous clothes- even the dresses that get panned are fabulous- becomes a household tradition for many people. It is even more fun if some of the films were actually attended. Do you ever notice who people thank? Often the other actors, the crew, the director and the last thank you is a significant family member. So if you were to dream about being a nominee, what would you be nominated as- director, actor, executive producer? Would it be a film, documentary or the art design or musical score? Who would you thank for your sucess in your life? Every family member or childhood friend? Do you even care about receiving awards? We have provincial medals and last year- the Queen's Jublilee Medal! Is it fun to win something sometime in our lives? Do we need to win to feel like we accomplished ourselves in our field? What are your thoughts?

  1. I know how awards are made in the arts and by our government. That makes me glad I'm not winning any.
