Sometimes families, couples or relationships can become too enmeshed. There is little room for individual autonomy. Some cultures more than others have an expectation to do everything the same. There are no boundaries but a blending-everyone and everything is the same. Is it okay? Belonging is important. Being part of a group can give a place in the world. Like Ayn Rand's-Atlas Shrugged- do we strive to be our own person? How are we viewed? To think differently is okay. To act uniquely is okay too! Do any of us like to be put in a clump with others? Do we like to be judged? Together and separate can exist side by side. Can't it?
... of course, it can ... in most cases.
