So the Baldwin family was in the media last week. Mrs. Baldwin had a miscarriage and spoke about it publicly. What I find disturbing is anyone who criticized her for sharing. And some put it down.
There is no such thing as a little miscarriage. For every woman, she is expecting a baby.
It is painful and bloody.
If a couple want the baby regardless of how many children they have, it is a loss for them.
Women suffer in silence around miscarriages. Even other women can be cruel in saying it was not a real baby. Too early in the pregnancy to count.
Humbug. 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 20 weeks, full term- a loss is a loss!!
In my Social Work career it was a major part of my work to support the mommies and yes the daddies around any baby losses.
What I found endearing was Mr. Baldwin's remarks about the miscarriage. How supportive was he to his wife!!
But let's not forget the man suffers a loss too. It is important to him. His wife has suffered a loss. As a couple it is a loss. As a family too.
Do your research and ask any woman- 18, 48, 98- how many babies or children they have. Sure enough they always mention the ones they lost. Miscarriage, stillborn, baby death.
So if you have had a miscarriage know there are people that care about your loss. Yes I am sorry for your loss Mrs. Baldwin.
