Family stories often can be centered around war. Adolph originated from Cassino Frosinone Italy.
A community about an hour south of Rome by car on the Autostrada/Highway.
So my in-laws remembered the Second World War very well.
On March 15, 1944 they were in the mountains around Cassino with other family members.
Concetta Matrundola Di Mambro and unknown girl around Spring1943 just before her marriage to Giuseppe Di Mambro.
Hearing stories from those who experienced the destruction of war in their home community gives a picture and understanding of what others had to endure in their lifetime.
I will write about Concetta's story at another time.
Today I just wanted to acknowledge the anniversary of Cassino's plight in the war.
