Any celebration, especially birthday ones are more fun with grandchildren. My husband Adolph does not like to be the centre of attention. But he will pose for a picture with all the grandchildren. They help him blow out the candles.Singing the Happy Birthday song is more fun with little voices. Children remind us to celebrate. Make simple events fun. They are an easy crowd-just have a cake! Grandchildren do bring some routine to the family events. Start early, finish early. Make foods everyone will eat disguised on fancy platters! Leave room for the children to run around and play together! I am finding the kids are starting to sit a little longer at the dinner table. Eventually it will be for the whole meal. Without the little grandchildren, however, it would be a bunch of adults discussing adult stuff heard many times! Having a baby to pass around keeps the mood jovial!
