ORGANIZING FOR CHRISTMAS-THE OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Organizing for Christmas does not have to be a blur. Take an activity at a time and methodically complete it. The outdoor Christmas lights can go up when you want! Some have them up immediately after Remembrance Day while others wait until the end of November or early December. My folks used to leave the lights along the house up year round-they just did not turn them on!! An outdoor display can be a single set of lights or an immense display-your choice. Strings of lights get more mileage if strung out rather than bunched. Now with the prelit trees and other lawn ornaments, outdoor displays are much easier to do. A beautiful lit tree in a front window can be your display as well! Before putting the lights outside, check that all the strings are working by plugging them in and checking any burnt out bulbs. Think about which strings attach to each to other as eventually one has to go to the extension cord that plugs into the electrical outlet! I usually do the display because Adolph often says later or tomorrow. Since I am short and use a ladder, I always call my display the "short woman's display"! Nothing special- strings of lights between trees and winding one or two around my oak tree. Last year, buying two of those prelit trees that go by the door! Not award winning but pretty enough! So think about your display, plan it and pick a non-windy moment to put the lights and other items out!
