NANA SAYS SANTA CLAUS PARADES ARE A TRADITION FOR CANADIAN CHILDREN

Local parades are occurring across the country every weekend. The one in Richmond Hill was last weekend. The main event is always the Santa float for the little children. Attending with little children brings back the magical moments of Christmas. Some floats were local church groups with one with the motto put Christ back in Christmas! Lots of Happy Holidays too to keep us multicultural! Of course a few bands playing some fun music for us! Politicians from every level of government handing out candy canes and some flyers from businesses! Fun for everyone and a little cold on the toes! They enjoyed " high fiveing" the various dressed characters in the parade. Santa Claus parades are a tradition for Canadians. As a little girl, I attended the Eaton's parade in Toronto now renamed as the Toronto Santa Claus parade. It occurred November 17. It is rather impressive and televised. My children used to be in the local parade when they attended Brownies and Guides! Seeing the new generation brought back some memories. As we are older we make the magical moments for the children! Standing in the cold and acting as if it is fun helps! My children and grandchildren like this parade because it is close to Nana's house. Spreading out the season's activities lets parents have some quiet moments too. So hot chocolate, marshmellows and cookies at Nana's house after the parade warmed everyone! Granpa had some too!

  1. You really have to dress warm for the Christmas parade, especially to keep the extremities warm. I remember a few times when I wasn't so smart. Always be on the sunny side of the street!
