CANADIANS AND AMERICANS ARE GOOD NEIGHBOURS-HAPPY 4TH!

We are different in many ways but have many similarities. As neighbours, there is no other country I would like to share my borders! Mostly English speaking, many ethnic roots are the same like the British, Irish and Italians. Religious freedom! Democracy! To my family and friends south of the border, enjoy your day!

A POSTCARD FROM QUEBEC CITY QUEBEC

With the start of the school year, it reminded me of a high school class trip I took in Grade 13 to Quebec City in 1969. So I looked for some postcards I bought.

The three top postcards from that time period. The church across the water is on I'lle d'Orleans where we took a bus tour. The church with the cars is Notre-Dame-des-Victoires built in 1688. I remember how excited we were as students to be in a Canadian church that was so old. There were two students who originated from England who were amused as by their standards it was not that old. Notice the cars in the parking lot- 60s vintage. The painting is from inside the church- Jesus runs across Saint Veronica by Boyermans(1577-1640)

My girls went on class trips to Quebec City too bringing home some postcards as souvenirs. It is a quaint, lovely city. Very similar to an Eurpean city, it draws tourists year round from Canada and the United States. It is close to Saint-Anne-De-Beaupre famous for skiing and religious retreats. Unfortunately where a famous movie star lost her life too.

SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF BLOGGING

Well over 700 plus posts and a readership that has touched all the earth's continents, I am proud to say blogging has become part of my life. Some regular readers such as Roy, Amy, Edna, Heather and other family and friends in Canada, United States and Italy are thanked for their loyalty. Especially Roy for his interesting and sometimes funny comments. To you in Russia who read daily, let me know who you are so I can thank you for your attention. My weekly visitor from Germany, comment sometimes. If you do follow me, then why not become a follower so I know who you are. Perhaps, you can suggest some themes. Those who read regularly know I have some recurring ones- A postcard from, Nana Says, Canadiana, history,whimsical, clinical, garden and flowers, crafts and sometimes whatever strikes my mood of the day. I plan outings to find and photograph pictures for the blog. Of course, not every photo is amazing but it does help to tell a story. Since I love symbolism, look for another meaning in some of the photos I chose. I really hope you enjoy reading the posts. My choice to try to post every day can be challenging. In order to write and write well, it is vital to commit to writing. With my dictionary and thesaurus handy and lots of photographs, I venture every day to try to commit words to post! With well over 13,000 pageviews I know I am reaching someone! I also assist Adolph with his blog- http://granpalovestocook.blogspot.com/  The photographs and typing are mine- the food and recipes are his very own creations. The sarcasm belongs to him! Perhaps his blog will venture into a family cookbook! Mostly I have found a very creative side to me that I love to share. With my work and life experiences, I have knowledge and expertise to communicate to others! I can also learn from others' reactions to my posts! Feel free to comment. DECEMBER- THE LAST MONTH OF THE YEAR

Despite being 24 days to Christmas, December is always the reminder that another year is starting to come to an end. During the busy festive season, it can be a time of reflection about your life and the individuals in it. Reaching out to people through Christmas Cards, emails, tweets, facebook, phone calls and personal visits is a way to determine what others mean to us. Imagine if we did not have to try to contact them, would we? I know there are many folks who only send a Merry Christmas email now. I have been told lately who mails anything- well I do! The handwritten message or typed newsletter is a small way to update. Actually I like to hear from friends and relatives what is happening in their lives. When people are spread out through Canada, United States and Italy, everyone Adolph and I know are never in the same room at the same time. At our girls' weddings, we did have a good collection of people though at the same events! For me I miss the connection with people I love. How about you? Are there people you wish were closer?

HAPPY JULY 4TH

A weekend of Nations' celebrations. Although we can have our differences, I always feel good that Canadians and Americans make good neighbours. There are other countries and nationalities that would be difficult to have on our borders. Then our Mexican cousins to the south are wonderful too. Trips there are always fun. So here's to celebrating democracy! Let's continue to hope other nations on this great earth will be given the opportunity to determine their own course. What are you doing with all the celebrations?
