New Brunswick with its diverse history. Its Acadian roots for many people. Been there and loved it. A place to see again and again. Sea and land is beautiful.

A POSTCARD FROM MAINE, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

It is fun to find more postcards in various places. In my parents' collection, I found a postcard from my niece and a close friend who visited Maine. Living in New Brunswick, it is right next door on the Eastern Seaboard.

" 24/07/82- Hi y'all: Here I am at Bangor Main. Having lots of fun & wish you were both here. Love Kathryn & Monique"

Although the card and intent was from Maine, it was actually posted in Moncton, New Brunswick with a Canadian stamp. 1982- High School?

A POSTCARD FROM MIRAMICHI AND AREA NEW BRUNSWICK

My brother Reed and his wife Edna live in this beautiful part of Canada. Edna sent me some postcards to include in my Postcard From series.

Ritchie Wharf, Miramichi City and Northumberland County, French Fort Cove are some of the features shown on the cards.

Edna wrote on the back of the cards. " Aug.11. Hi Barbara- Just a few words as I send this card off to you. This is where Reed & I walk sometimes. It is also the place where our Pond Hockey takes place every Feb. It is just a couple Km from our house- Edna &Reed." She also wrote about the Ritchie Wharf- This is our famous Ritchie Wharf where we go some evenings to listen to some good old down home country music. It is a great place to take the little ones to play."

Edna also pointed out the New Brunswick bird is the Chikadee and the flower is the Purple Violet- if it is purple I will love it! The Miscou Lighthouse is a wonderful landmark.

Of course if it is in Canada- the people are really friendly. Miramichi- Some Good!

A POSTCARD FROM NEW BRUNSWICK

New Brunswick has been the home to one of my brothers, Reed for many decades. Many family members have visited the province and find its beauty comparable to the other Maritime provinces.
The Hopewell Rocks, the Tidal Bore in Moncton are just a couple of the many sites to see.

Of course, the many lighthouses throughout the province.
During my last trip there, 2000, when Adolph and I attended the wedding of our niece Kathryn and husband, Jim, we were welcomed with wonderful Acadian hospitality and found the friendliness of the people endearing.
Although I have not received a postcard from there, I did buy several to add to my collection.

I love the old postcard of Main Street looking east in Moncton. I wonder what year it is as the cars are rather old. Have you had a visit to New Brunswick? I know during September 11th, 2001, many planes were grounded in Moncton and the people remember the warmth provided by the locals during a world crisis until they could fly home. Tell me your Maritime story!
