5 REASONS TO EMBRACE MONDAY

Monday always comes after a weekend. For most of us the weekend is never long enough. No matter what there it is- Monday. So what and how to embrace Monday.

1. Be thankful to have another week of work. If unemployed, Monday is the most stressful. Everyone else is going off to work and you are not. Blessed, lucky, fortunate or whatever- earning a living beats collecting unemployment benefits.

2. A good day to set goals for the week at home and at work. Even plans for the next weekend.

3. After a weekend, a good time to check in on the health aspects of life. Exercise. Diet. Sleep. Meal planning.

4. Catch up on emails, correspondence, bills. What needs to be done and what can wait.

5. Since it is just another day, this too shall pass. So embrace it, enjoy it, put some bounce in your step, greet others like you really care and guess what the day will pass. Remember once that happens, yes one day closer to the next weekend! Or you could sing the Mama and Papas song- Monday, Monday.

MONDAY BLUES

Monday, Monday can't stand that day or something like that were the words to the Mama and Papas song. Weekends in the warmer months are too short. So much to do and the amount of rain has slowed down outdoor activities. Enjoying a weekend outside always refreshes the soul. For people with pools or cottages it is important to use those facilities too. So here it is Monday with the demands of another work week. Some weeks busier than others. Coverage, monthly talk, learning a new computer program all make for a stressful time. So trying to find ways to curb the stress! One day at a time. Light at night helps with the mood too. How is your Monday? Does it feel stressful? Do you have demands at home too?
Sometimes just looking at the beauty of nature can help us busy bees!

MONDAYS- A CHANCE TO BEGIN AGAIN

Monday is often a dreaded day for work. But it is always an opportunity to begin again. Make some goals for the week. Hopefully there are not too many meetings and other events that need urgent attention. To attend to the regular aspects of one's job. Clean up the little piles of paper that need cleaning. Trying to learn to do with less paper. With so much electronic filing and organizing need to get in the groove. Have one spot for basic summaries. My address/journal/notebook is a hard copy with lots of information in one neat spot. I do not want to put all the private information out there on the Internet. Like in the genealogy world, the vitals on living people are not on the Internet. To keep some privacy is important. Always! So Monday the start of the week. Actually the weekend brought some closure to some piles of stuff around the house. Methodically areas are being purged. Trying to use each night for an activity to get through the week with some success. Trying to write and write some more on little projects. What about you? How will your week unfold?

LABOUR DAY MONDAY

The last of the summer long weekends is here. A sadness that the Fall season will Rev up. School, work meetings, children's lessons, organizing for the new season, planning social events. The day is a time to reflect and well labour. What needs to be done in the yard, the house, the cleaning of the closets, organizing the photos and memorabilia from summer events, taking those winter woollies to the dry cleaners- labour day is the word for many reasons! Most women labour today. Getting everything organized for the first week back to school. For those of us without children, a good day to plan and organize those work areas. I just uploaded a new database to put my information- Evernote. Anyone else use it for their stuff? A corner of my bedroom for those quiet projects that can be done while watching TV. I have been getting lazy and just been watching without anything in my hands. So back to labour and busy but slow busy. The bedroom projects are slow ones. If an hour or so each night then something can be accomplished. Of course the computer room has the writing projects. Not fun to sit at a computer all day and all night so by taking some small projects elsewhere then can change the venue change the mood. For example, if I do two rows on my afghan stitch project then eventually it will get done. But slowly. There is always the boredom factor. Some projects are boring so having several to do can switch from one to the other to keep up the interest. Currently I am retyping and reorganizing some family histories. I find the typing or inputting of data boring but love the research piece. So  a little research, and a little typing keeps projects moving along but slowly. I have been going over all the data and trying to link with the cited sources. It's all there but reorganizing means filtering the paper. One goal is to reduce the paper and binders of the family history stuff. Then the new scanner to be installed. I needed the database to have a place to put the scanned stuff. Several family history documents are big and needed a place digitally. The word of modern family historians is to reduce the paper and be digital. Then they can be filed online and sent to relevant family members as a file or put on this blog to be read whichever is easiest for me. It is only the beginning of the season so getting started was the important part. I also find learning a new programme or installing a new device is pain staking. Unfortunately I do not have an electronic, computer savvy spouse so any new gadget takes more time for me than others to get it functional, I assume! So Labouring on this Monday can be tiring but needed. Workstations for those mentioned jobs are going well! I even found a moment to do a post!

MONDAYS ARE A TOUGH DAY

A wonderful weekend ending in a Monday morning! After the Brexit vote, the markets may be volative again. Will our dollar go up or down? How will traffic be? Work- what happened over the weekend! Any new issues or crises? Monday with its uncertainity can be the most stressful day of the week. This week with school ending causes concern for parents trying to decide what to do with their children if those decisions were not made back in Februray.   It just seems the weekends get shorter and the work week longer or is it just me trying to look at life throught a turn in my Kaleidoscope? monday

THE WORK WEEK BEGINS-MONDAY, MONDAY

Mondays are always hard for everyone unless job hunting then there is a jealousy that others have a job and you do not. When I had two lay offs in my career, there were years of going to work on Mondays that I refused to dislike them as I always said to myself " you are lucky to have a job, Barb!" Then one Monday, I said- heh, all these other people are complaining so why do I have to be so cheerful and grateful about Monday? Maybe it is because I am a cheerful and grateful person! Despite it, weekends are better. The down time! Able to have an afternoon siesta! Mondays always feel like there was so much left undone! The promise to keep at stuff each night until fatigue takes over! The best Mondays are vacation Mondays! I do find myself singing the Mamas and the Papas song- Monday, Monday ........ How will your Monday go! For those who are retired, better than most I am sure!

MONDAY THE 13TH-NOT BAD LUCK IS IT?

Funny Friday the 13th has a bad onus to it but a Monday the 13th- not really. Just being a Monday after a gorgeous Sunday is a bit of a struggle. Last week was a short week for me so back to 5 day workweeks for some time will be the same old thing. The days are getting longer. No more boots but nice new running shoes or sneakers to wear for my walk to work. Hard to believe it is midway through April. My little snowdrops are up in the garden along with other plants poking their little heads above the soil. Green and red are nice signs that nature is moving along. The snowbirds are singing lots these days. A wonderful sound. Other creatures are active too. The ants and the raccoons! Must find ways to deter them! So will today be a lucky day or just another day- an opportunity to enjoy life with all its beauty? How about you are Monday the 13ths good or bad luck or just the same?

MONDAY MONDAY

A snowy Monday morning makes the drive slower and tedious. Mondays are hard to take at the best of times. After my layoffs from work over the years I tried to act as if I was just lucky to have a job and well welcome Mondays. Then I decided lots of people have jobs and are not very grateful but resentful they even have to work. So I found a middle ground. I could be mixed- wish the weekend was longer and be happy when Monday is finished so I could continue on my projects at home. Don't get me wrong, I do love my job but sometimes the politics get me down. Being home doing my own thing does bring lots of pleasure too. So here's hoping this Monday will bring joy, opportunity to learn and appreciation of life. It is just another day after all!
