Sometimes we can be  pointed in the right direction.

A sign with wild Canadian flowers bordering in a pretty way!

Historic sites show lots of information on a simple sign. The Government of Canada in two languages and the designation of being a Naitonal Historic site of Canada.

Let us know what to eat!

Capture an event in time!

Highlighting places visited.

Remembering small towns in Ontario.

Some signs even give pertinent advice.

Fund raising events for important causes.

Oh life! Lots of advice from the signs around us! Everywhere we go there are signs! Do we see? Do we listen? Do we pay attention?

READING THE SIGNS

Signs can be everywhere. When there is no language then anyone can interpret and read them.City signs that let you know what to chose. AGO almost looks Arabic but it is not. It is the Art Gallery. A TTC sign for the transit system.

So what do these signs tell us. Located conveniently in a downtown Toronto parking lot outside the Rogers Centre they are useful for the visitors to the city. But looking at these signs, I am not sure what they all mean. Do you? Can you figure them out? Go ahead- give it a try! Then let me know.

NO TRESPASSING-GET THE MESSAGE

No trespassing! Conjures up lots of thoughts and images. It is like telling someone strongly, it belongs to me and stay off. Sometimes we are asked questions about ourselves and really want to say, it's none of your business! Perhaps wearing a sign- no trespassing would suffice. The question I usually want to ask- is why do you need to know that about me!  The whole gossips thing!! Never liked it as a child and even less now!! I find people will tell me what they want. Being an open book with the world is not always a good thing. Yes I know there are many that like to brag about how much money they have, what is in their bank account, how expensive their items like clothes, cars and furniture cost them and their friends, family, relationship is the best and so wonderful. Do we really want to know about some one's sex life!! Yeah, you get it. Having confidants in our lives are necessary. Good to have friends or family that all can be shared with them as needed. Parents can keep some information private from children and vice versa- especially older children. Actually most of my private information is not really that interesting. I don't call myself Boring Barb for nothing!!

SOME SIGNS MAKE US SMILE

I could not resist taking a picture of this sign on one of our summer country jaunts. Someone with a sense of humour must have made it. I remember after the Barrie Tornado in 1985, one family who lost their home put up a sign saying- GONE WITH THE WIND! I felt they were going to survive okay. As I don't know that I would have found anything funny about the situation!
If you could make a funny sign what would it say? Would you use an interesting picture?

A SIGN WARNING CAUTION

Sometimes in life we are given warning signs to proceed with caution. A yellow traffic light clues to stop or try to get through the intersection before it turns red. With our health, an unusual weight gain or loss, a new cough, or a general change in our well being are good signs to get us checked out. We can chose to be cautious all the time but might eliminate some opportunities that may be beneficial to us. Being aware of our environment, locking our doors, changing the oil in our car and many other daily activities can help to keep us safe from some harm. Even if we try to avoid all possible bad situations, life does happen. There are unavoidable circumstances that we must roll with all the consequences. Caution does help us to keep our eyes and ears open to any danger! Are you a cautious person? Are there events in your life that were avoidable if only you had paid attention to them? Are you overly cautious? Tell me your thoughts.

OBSERVE THE SIGNS

We all have many signs in our lives that we need to pay attention to them all. Health wise- we may have signs things are wrong. Not sleeping well, palpitations too often, change in bodily functions. Our out of control credit card spending- when it is not Christmas! People avoiding us at work- is there something wrong with this picture! Especially when there is restructuring and there may be layoffs! Have you ever been in a position that you notice signs in your life that something is coming? Sometimes superstitious people may say it is a sign! Some cultures and even in Cape Breton believe if a bird poops on your head it is a sign of good fortune! Do you believe in signs that point the way in your life? Or are you too pragmatic? When we drive we must follow the signs, but in daily living what do you think? Halloween is around the corner, are the signs of the season playing with us?
