Hearing about the mega storm hitting the east coast today of Canada and Northern USA, it gives some thought to how to prepare for the times in life that feel like a storm.
We stock up on essentials. Get the milk. Make sure the emergency equipment is available. Are there enough batteries for those battery operated items. Water. Some cash in case bank machines go down. I now have some of those LED candles.
But that's for the weather storm, what about our life storms. Health issues and how to cope. Can they exacerbate if not handled well? Financial. Post Christmas brings in those bills. Getting out of debt one payment at a time. Problems at work. Dealing with the conflicts. Relationship issues. Well face them before the wind picks up. Needing to make changes and the emotions they bring. Sudden tragedies. Sudden death. The biggest of storms!!
Sometimes it may feel that there is one storm after another one. Hard to brace for another one when not quite finished with the previous one. Surrounding yourself with people that help with your storms and you with theirs. Maybe pooling those resources- especially the emotional ones.
Look for the light in the dark to help your way through them. Are you dealing with any storms Real or otherwise? Is life feeling a little rocky right now? How do you brace for those issues in your life?

WEATHER IS PART OF CONVERSATION-HOW CANADIAN EH?
Okay. Weather is our favourite topic. We can converse with strangers- cold, isn't it! Like that heat! A letter can talk about the weather. Watching the news and weather is a big highlight. Like today- the calm before the storm of bad weather predicted across the country. Snowy weather is coming. New Brunswick is still reeling from power outages from the 2017 Ice Storm! The GTA feels their pain- Dec. 2013 Ice Storm brought havoc to this area. Some customers went a month with no hydro. And the trees made areas look like a war zone. Snow storms, ice storms, thunderstorms, tornadoes, floods, droughts- well we have it all. Can go from -40 C in the winter to + 30 in the summer. Flexible we are and love to talk about the weather. So how is it where you live?

WEATHERING EVERY STORM
Canadians like to talk about the weather. So it makes sense we have many cliches using the weather. Weathering the storm! Conflicts, issues, concerns, problems can be our storms. Things and events we worry about. How we prepare for those events build character! Sometimes we can not prepare as an event comes upon us! Having strategies and emergency supplies can help. Or just knowing to ride it out! Storms are part of life. So looking for the rainbow or the calm or the quiet after a storm gives peace of mind. Not every end does bring a positive result. But knowing a good try was given is the important factor. Do you face a storm today? Even with snow in the forecast, life can go on!!

LIFE IS LIKE A STORM
Sometimes there are warnings of bad weather coming. Sometimes we are in the midst of it without warning. A storm can wake us up at night. Wind, rain or hail can do damage. Assessing the area after a storm reveals what has happened. Sometimes unscathed, sometimes not. Standing on two feet and living to tell the tale and go on. Life's storms happen to all of us. How we weather them speaks to our courage and ability to carry on! Watching a storm from a safe place can be interesting. But not from a tent!
