FIRST DAY OF SPRING AND SOME SPRING CLEANING

Since I really did not do much fall cleaning felt some spring cleaning was in order.

So been getting rid of some clothes not worn for a long time.

Clothes have so many memories attached to them.

A top from a trip.

A dress from a special occasion.

A suit that Adolph wore.

But is is time to move forward with many areas of my life

So some clothes sorting and packing for a clothes drop is a good start.

How about you? Are you starting to spring clean?

SPRING-TIME TO CLEAN AND DECLUTTER

With longer days and warmer weather around the corner, it is easier to get ride of those items in one's house no longer in use. Donating to charities and some even pick up from the house. Selling items- using those online sites and even local ones like Varage sale. The curb invites neighbours who may like your items that can not be sold but are still functional for someone else's home. I enjoy seeing people taking my stuff from the curb! As an aging baby boomer, everywhere one looks one sees-your kids will not want your stuff! So keeping my treasures but cleansing the larger piles is giving me some joy. A couple of community garage sales to rent a table is in the future months so will see how that goes. Areas of my house are enjoying the cleanse! How about your place? How is it going?

SPRING MEANS SPRING CLEANING

Someone told me yesterday it will be so nice to have the windows open so a breeze can come in! What a wonderful thought as Spring has finally arrived. Not warm enough to open windows and doors yet, but the weather is slowly getting warmer. Now that the snow has melted, a quick walk around the garden to see if anything is trying to break through the soil. What is real though is the idea of spring cleaning. Now that the curb does not have a snow bank, perhaps things can make their way there. Or some bags for a local charity? A drawer, a closet, a bookshelf, a room- time to cleanse a home slowly of stuff as well as clean those corners. Too soon to change the clothes around as for me that will be a job mid-April. Chilly mornings and chilly nights mean that the warm winter sweaters and clothes are still needed! How about you- are you ready to do some spring cleaning or is it already finished in your home??

SPRING CLEANING IS LIKE WEEDING A GARDEN

Spring cleaning is like weeding a garden. Areas look messy but when all the "weeds" are cleared out there is some space and a feeling of freedom. I clean in stages. One closet, one room, or one drawer at a time. My laundry room that was a "hell hole" is now clean. Most of the stuff I threw in there has been neatly put on the shelves or the superfluous stuff has made its way to the garage and will be sold, taken to charity or put on the curb as a freebie  to a neighbour. Several little piles of papers which were mini clutter are now gone. Doesn't it seem strange when there is a little change in the weather, the energy explodes? Up and down the stairs yesterday and today a short walk to buy some Easter things at Party City! Oh the brick all that has been decaying for several years, well pulled some of it down between the clutter clean. So for the next few weeks when bored Adolph and I will be piling bricks at the side of the house. The little pieces can be put in the paths. Yes, there are little things budding their heads in the garden. There are still some snow piles and the ice by the front door is now about a foot and a half high. My extension cord from my Christmas lights is still buried there. The good news is I managed to get my Merry Christmas sign out of the dirt-it had been frozen solid. Spring brings so much work but it is as if the body craves the change from the winter rest. So how is your Spring cleaning going?

A SHORT WORK WEEK

My only thoughts today are focused on the fact that it is a short work week. As much as I love my job, having time away and nesting at home has its advantages. Being able to clean and putter and do some personal activities along with family time, helps me to renew some much needed energy to carry on with all the aspects of living. I would not want to be home all the time but there is a safety that home brings. With the urge to Spring clean and prepare for the warm weather that is coming-I think- being home for a few extra days helps to accomplish many tasks. I often think I would like to do 12 hour days so I could have more time off. My job, however, is not conducive to that time frame. Evenings could be spent with families but there is little work in the early hours. There is no opportunity to work from home-can not take patients away from the hospital! So it is the 5 day- Monday to Friday and the odd weekend crisis that entails the work I do. Ah-the short work week- like Adolph said this morning- no more sleeps the weekend is almost here!

IF IT HAS A SURFACE YOU HAVE TO CLEAN IT

The Spring air brings on the energy to clean. Preparing the house for the Easter Dinner next week, means taking a good look around and to clean the corners. Today I washed the curtains and windows along the front of the house. Each day this week I will continue to pick some fabric items to wash. The fragance of a clean house is welcoming ! The problem with my house is all my little knickknacks that need cleaning! But if it has a surface you have to clean it! Are you in the mood for spring cleaning?
