LIFE IS LIKE A PUMPKIN

Pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes. The Orange is visible and bright. Well it is a happy colour! A pumpkin can be left whole. Carved into whatever design you desire. The inside pulled out to reveal a empty innards. The seeds planted to make baby pumpkins next year or roasted in the oven to be eaten now. The pulp can be cooked and then mashed to make pumpkin pies or cupcakes. The rest put in the compost pile to nourish next year's garden. Sometimes a seed remains in the mix and a renegade plant will grow in a flower bed. Even Cinderella escaped in a carriage made from a pumpkin! And has a green one named after her.

Even as bunch, each pumpkin is unique. With bumps and flaws, big and small! Often a Nana can be heard calling her little grand kiddies- " her pumpkins:!

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND

Is a favourite time for Canadians. The anticipation of a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Time to get together as a family. Some people even have more than one dinner to attend. I'll make the traditional bread stuffing handed down from other generations. The girls will bring the baked goods which, of course, include apple and pumpkin pies. Adolph will help with his array of Canadian and Italian vegetables. However, the dinner is mine- I do the cooking and really enjoy it. Will have the grandchildren help with the place names for the table. 12 people. So what are you doing for Thanksgiving! Are you hungry just thinking about all the food? It is a time of thanks! What are your blessings? Why are you thankful?

PUMPKINS- ORANGE THAT WE LOVE

Pumpkins are a definite sign of the season. Great for decorating a veranda or putting on a festive table. The seeds are tasty roasted. Some people crave the most beautiful creations. Our workplace even has a pumpkin carving contest! Does yours? Then there are the pumpkin pies, cupcakes, bread or whatever the baker can conjure from this Canadian vegetable. A country drive may take you to a pumpkin field where you can pick and choose your own pumpkin.

Soon there will be the news item of who grew the biggest pumpkin! And where! Apparently the trick is to inject it with milk so it helps it grow bigger. Don't know that I will pick my own pumpkin but I do know a good farmer's market or two to peruse for a good one! Are you ready to buy one?
