A CANADIAN MOOSE IN A MALL? CANADIAN, EH!

Nature at its best! Christmas brings out the artist and creativity in many people. Shopping recently at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, the beautiful Swarovski tree with decorations was too hard to resist a photo or two. Low and behold- a moose! Bringing the forest to the urban setting worked.

Lots of crystal on the tree!

There was lots of details on the tree. If you look closely in the middle of the bulb, you can see me taking the picture. Fun to be part of the Christmas photo. Are there photo opportunities at your malls across the country and the world. Why not explore in the midst of all your Christmas shopping! Bet you can tell I love the Christmas season! How about you?

THE MOOSE-A CANADIAN ICON

The moose is a Canadian icon and can be found everywhere. Although it is a shy, aggressive animal that lives in the bush, many souvenirs, T-shirts and knickknacks have moose motifs. Even at this Niagara winery there is an interesting moose sculpture. Artists often use the shedded antlers for sculptures and other pieces. Have you ever encountered a moose on the loose? For drivers on country roads the moose can be quite dangerous. Caution is always needed! My home has some moose items like my fridge magnets from some Canadian locales. How about you?

A POSTCARD FROM NEWFOUNDLAND CANADA

Newfoundland and Labrador is a beautiful province on the eastern coast of Canada. Known for its fisheries, beautiful landscape and friendly people, it is on my bucket list to visit.

My brother Ron and his wife, Sheila visited the area in 2009 and sent a postcard to my folks in British Columbia.

"09/09/16- Hi Folks, having a very nice trip in Newfoundland, lots to see and the people are great to meet. Lots of moose coming down the hwy. Season opened last Sat. and the Newfies are very keen on their moose-home by Oct. 1st. Lotsa love, Ron, Sheila and the dogs."

Like other parts of Canada, the wildlife is prolific. It is worth a visit or two. Go on by!

If you want a postcard featured here, email me at abdm@rogers.com and I will send you my address so you can send me a postcard.
