NANA SAYS PULL OUT YOUR SPRING SAFETY RULES

With the nicer weather slowly making its way across the nation, parents are reminded about the need to review all the safety rules. Creeks, rivers and lakes will have melting ice and the banks with snowbanks are not safe. One man fell into Lake Ontario yesterday due to the snowbank on the edge of the lake not holding his weight. Those high snowbanks are not forts as children can fall in and be buried. As more people get out walking, review the street rules with children. Watch out for those little patches of black ice with the thaw and freeze that can occur on surfaces. Pick up all the fallen branches in backyards so avoiding little injuries. Of course too early for all the sun screen but look at your supply and determine if new products are needed. For those travelling south, review all your water and sun safety rules there too. Safety first is always a good motto year round but Spring takes over our senses. Wanting to be outside is a good thing but just do it as safe as possible!
