LIFE IS LIKE A BEDROOM DRESSER!
We all have one. A dresser. It houses our clothes and perhaps other stuff. We can compartmentalize our things. Each drawer has a theme. The sock drawer. The underwear drawer. And so on! Keeps us organized. We can even find stuff in the dark because we know what drawer to check. We can put knickknacks on top or keep it clean. It can match a bedroom set or be a solo item. Although this one is wood, different materials can be used. Contained! Has a place in the house! Close to the bed where we re-energize! Life as a dresser!
HONESTY-THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH
Honesty is one major way not to get caught in a lie. It pays to tell the truth the majority of your life. So yes most people have told a little white lie but is it worth it. Accept responsibility if a mistake is made. My fault, sorry! Don't blame others because honestly it will catch up with you. Honest people are refreshing. Okay, it is important that your whole life does not need to be shared. You can politely tell someone you do not want to share some information as it is private. So you can be private and honest. I was told once by some dishonest people- you are too honest about everything. I told them I am honest but not stupid. So a conversation with my husband recently made me think about this topic. Since I am honest, believe it or not I trust few people. Others must prove their honesty to me before I trust them. I often believe that few people are really honest. Fake people exist! Showy! When I find the honest ones, they are the keepers. Of course, I am nice and friendly with everyone! Beware of those that say- what you don't trust me. Be honest and answer no I don't! Remember some people's truth will not be yours. Memory can do that! Tell your stories the same way each time. It bores the crap out of family but at least no details are embellished! Teach children to be honest! But also teach them that not all people are honest so if they need to double check a story it is okay! Again if asked what you don't believe me, be honest and say no I don't! If you catch someone in a lie, if not a family member or someone for whom you care, let it go! Remember honest people are not the honest police! Keep yourself honest! It is a lifetime chore! Honestly!

FAMILY DAY WEEKEND 2016
A weekend of fun and rest. With an extra day off work and Valentines Day on Sunday it is a nice break for families and couples to stop and not smell the roses but perhaps to eat some cake. How many people will go out for dinner? Red roses is the main item most husbands, boyfriends and lovers buy their sweetie! Chocolates are a hit for many people too! The most important aspect is a much needed long weekend in February. Every month should have a long weekend! It just helps to break up the monotony of a long work week or month. If the truth be known, it would probably help with those "mental health" sick days workers take often. Knowing there is an extra day to be home or do one's own stuff encourages better attendance at work. Back to the food- some of us may just purchase some extra goodies at our favourite supermarket for those good snacks and good meals eaten at our favourite spot at home. Of course, the beverage of choice- mine is fermented grape juice! Putter and clean and entertain the grandchildren if they come by! Of courses for the grandparents they are our sweeties and little valentines! What is your weekend look like? Do you have a special event planned or are you just going to mellow?

ARE YOU A FOSSIL?
Finding interesting fossils in rocks keeps us humble. Realizing how old the earth is, gives value to our lives. Meaning to enjoy the day before we become an old fossil.
Weapons that were used by others. Like this quart arrowhead, primitive but I am sure it did the job in its time. Keeping items from other times can give meaning to the present. Do you have items in your possession from older times? Interesting aren't they?

NANA SAYS WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR FAMILY DAY
In Ontario and other parts of Canada, next Monday is Family Day. It actually coincides with the anniversary of the Canadian Flag. I digress. It is an opportunity to do something with the children and grandchildren. The stores are really closed to allow clerks and owners a much needed day off. Hopefully there will be some snow and cold for sledding and skating. Outdoors is always inviting and tires everyone so a good night's sleep will occur. A long weekend in the middle of winter is good for all families and especially exhausted full time working parents. So what are your plans? A piece of advice- make them simple. Less is more when lives are already so busy! An afternoon movie, a walk in the snow, crafts-makes things for Valentines Day, visit family, let the grandchildren have a sleepover with the grandparents, well parents you get the picture. Your life is already full and cramped with stuff. Taking a break is good for the soul. Think small rather than big. It is just a weekend- 3 days! So rather than packing more into it, think less. Maybe even have a PJ day where everyone has their bath, brush their teeth then put their jammies back on and lounges around!

A SOMBRE WALK TO WORK
My Monday walk was different yesterday. Along my usual route were police cars, police tape around a house and 4 media trucks filming. Quieting going on the road to go around the scene, I continued to work. I found out later bylooking up the details online that an elderly gentleman had been murdered. Later in the day, his son was charged. It is a house I go by most days. I did not know the family but it begs the question- why? Who was this family? What brought a son to kill his father? Less activity on my walk home- just one police car and the tape around the property. No matter where we live there are family struggles and issues. If you are aware of anyone needing a helping hand then lend one if you can! However, often there is no awareness of what be happening with a neighbour.
SHOVE TUESDAY OR EAT SOME PANCAKES
40 days before Easter. Sh rove Tuesday. The tradition of eating pancakes is here. Even the local Sunrise restaurant is offering $1.00 per pancake today. Lent begins tomorrow. So for those who fast or give up something for Lent, pancakes are a way to eat your heart out! Personally, I do not give up anything as it is more of a Catholic tradition. Being Protestant and from the United Church of Canada, it is not a must in my faith. However, the cook may be asked to make this blogger some pancakes for breakfast with some Canadian back bacon to boot. That is more of my tradition. Those that are lucky today and are in New Orleans, Louisiana can enjoy the Mardi Gras parade and celebrations. Maybe that should be on my bucket list. A shove Tuesday in New Orleans. There may be a chance to view some of the parade on TV. What are you eating on this day? Do you fast or give up something for Lent? What are your traditions?
