NATURE BRINGS PEACE IN COVID TIMES

Natural settings have a way to calm the soul. Being around trees and birds and running water are ways to stop and be calm.

When was the last time you had a walk in the woods?

NATURE CALMS THE SOUL-A SMALL WATERFALL

Water, earth and babbling water are so peaceful!

To stand and embrace the moment. To find solitude. To know there is a quiet place.

SPRING ARRIVES DESPITE THE COVID-19- NATURE'S MESSAGE

Do you hear the birds singing?

Have you seen a Robin?

Do you see the squirrels chasing each other being frisky?

What flowers are in your garden??
The buds are on the trees.

Those little snow drops come up even with a bit of snow!!

Does nature have a message for us?

The earth does its thing. It gives us a message doesn't it??

WATER-A HUMAN ELEMENT

Looking into the distance in this picture brings many contemplative thoughts. Water and earth are main elements of life. Sitting on the edge of a lake, river or ocean often brings humbling thoughts. Where is it leading? What lives in the water? What lives on the edge of the water? Water keeps us alive. We use it. Play in it. Swim in it. Travel on it. Before aviation, we travelled the earth on it. Still water gives us a sense of peace. Calm. Canada has many lakes and rivers. We are a fortunate people. Living near the water can have its hazards which can be seen by the flooding that can occur in spring runoffs or summer storms. Appreciating it is a force of nature to be respected keeps us vigilant. Homeowners know about water damage. Easier to anticipate a problem than fix one. Regardless a day on the water in a boat, canoe or rowboat is rather enjoyable. Sitting on a beach reading a book brings a relaxing thought. Water!

THE WIND OF CHANGE

As the night winter wind was howling, disturbing my sleep, it was a reminder that life can be jostled by such events. A windy day! A hurricane force wind! A gentle breeze! Same system, just a different effect! Some winds more welcome than others, especially if one is a sailor with a big sailboat! In weather, winds do bring change. Nature does not like a vacuum so does not allow it. Do we also not like a vacuum and must fill our days with something?

USING NATURE TO MAKE CHRISTMAS FESTIVE

In the "olden days", people used natural products for the festive season. Now we head off to the craft store and buy our synthetic products or just buy ready made items. It is easy though to look around and use some items from nature.
Grape vines made into a wreath add texture.

Pinecones of course make the season cheery. Sometimes a bunch in a decorative bowl with a ribbon on top. A corsage! A wreath! Use in some garland! Christmas tree boughs bring a fragrance to the home.
Using new with the old blends the traditions of many generations.

How is your Christmas decorating going? Are you already sipping some eggnog by your tree?

CANADA GEESE

Are a Canadian icon. They are everywhere across our great nation.

Sometimes they even come to visit with their babies- goslings.

They are so prolific. They look cute but can be a nuisance sometimes if there are flocks of them. Goose poop can be everywhere.

Near my home in a field there is a large Spring pond. Each year the couple come to stay until it dries up. One day they decided to go for a stroll and strolled up to my front door. Do you ever have little visitors? Nature is all around us. It is amazing that we can co-exist together! What has been your experience with Canada geese?
