5 REASONS NOT TO WORRY ABOUT FRIDAY THE 13TH

Friday the 13th. Are you superstitious? Well I am not! I even lived on the 13th floor of married students residence at university.

                                                             Watch for the signs.

1. Think religious. Jesus and the 12 disciples- the number 13. So spiritual!

2. It is just another day. And look it is Friday- the end of the work week.

3. People are born on the 13th of the month. So do not deny a birthday celebration. It is not always a Friday.

4. It is coming to mid month so get moving on your month's activities and goals. It is the second Friday the 13th this year and guess what the last one!

5. Okay, if you are worried- no walking under ladders, avoid black cats, wear garlic if you think there is a vampire. Go back to bed and pull the covers over your head!

FRIDAY THE 13TH

13 is that number that can be lucky or otherwise. Jesus and the 12 disciplines is a positive force. It is is interesting that 1 and 3 equals 4- an unlucky number in Chinese culture. The day will bring what a normal Friday brings- lots of work to get things in order for the weekend. I just think it is another day. Bad luck has happened for me on many other days over the years. Good luck has happened likewise. So do you have trepidations about the day or its it just another Friday on your calendar?

A fear of Friday the 13th! Frigga from the Norse God for Friday and Triskaidekaphobia- fear of the number 13! Of course- phobia which explains it all. Some people that do not appear to be superstitious will present themselves today. We even had a patient that would not be discharged on Friday the 13th! Our first apartment in the Married Student's Residence at the University of Waterloo was on the 13th floor- 1303 was the number! Are you worried today? Do you have any fears of the number? Don't worry there are only 3 in 2012, I counted them! So if 3 is a lucky number for you then you are okay!

FRIDAY THE 13TH

Can bring out the superstitious people. Actually a lot of good things can happen on the 13th. Had a nephew who has a 13th birthday. If you won money on the 13th, it sure would be good luck. Bad luck can happen any day, the same as good luck! What are your special avoidances?Step on a crack, break your mother's back. Don't walk under a ladder- who would want to walk under a ladder anyway! Someone could drop something on your head. A black cat- they really make good pets. Everything happens in 3's- I wish sometimes 4's, 5's, 6's- well you get the picture. We all have some little rituals- I check my lottery tickets on Sunday afternoon. Mostly, if I were to win and had to wait until Monday morning to go to the Lottery office, no sense being excited for too many days. Is it superstitious or just a habit? My husband's Italian group has some interesting ones- don't make wine or tomatoe sauce when the woman is menstruating- will sour the wine or the sauce. Why because she is crabby or what? If you have a back problem, get a woman who is expecting twins to walk over your back! Firstly, it is hard to find a woman who is expecting twins. I know we won the golds in hockey at Salt Lake City because there was a loonie in the ice! Perhaps or was it because the teams were good! Don't care- we won!
