NANA SAYS EASTER IS A TIME TO CELEBRATE CHRISTIANITY

Even irregular church goers can use the Easter season to talk about the Christian faith and what it means. Children can learn it is more than Easter bunnies and chocolates. The story of Christ and his teachings can be taught. Having story books for all ages and even some church attendance would be a good start. Grace at dinners is the tradition in our home. Practising love, acceptance and tolerance are year long virtues to have. Do onto others as you would have them do onto you! Basic but stands the test of time. Mostly as an adult role model positive Christian qualities every day!

NANA SAYS A BAPTISM BEGINS A JOURNEY OF FAITH

Having a faith is important to the well being of people. Introducing children to the stories and message of the bible is vital. Believing in a larger being than ourselves is part of the human spirit. More than talking about the meaning of Christianity, practicing is more important. Do unto others as you will have them do unto you. Other religions have a similar message. Only the extremes in any faith can teach non-tolerance to other faiths. Christians can appreciate and work with those of all religions as it teaches us tolerance and love. This Sunday my newest little granddaughter will be baptized at Thornhill United Church. It will be begin a journey of learning about the love of Christ. The love of life, the love of tolerance and reaching out to others. In a country like Canada with cultural and religious diversity understanding and knowing one's faith to understand others begins at home. Children deserve a good start to life.
