#58 BARB'S RELFECTIVE 150- TO OUR FIRST RESPONDERS

Canada is a nation of compassion and care. We have infrastructures in place. So to our police, fire men and women, forest fire fighters, hydro crews, health care professionals and all those who help in our natural disasters, accidents and all events. Our 150 could not be the same without all the efforts of the people on the ground. Many organizations depend on volunteers to help too.

#38 BARB'S REFLECTIVE 150- FLAGS ARE OUT

Getting ready for July 1st, the big Canadian flag is out in the garden. A banner of small flags hanging from trees visible down the road as well as little flags around the evergreen tree on the lawn. Buying a pot of white and red petunias to hang in preparation for the big day. Put some 150 flags in the pots on the front porch too! So where are your flags? How will you wave the flag for the big celebration?

2017 is a birthday year for Canada. July 1, 1867 four areas or provinces decided to create the nation of Canada. People lived here for thousands of years so we are told. But not as one country or nation.So honouring all the people of this great land will be a piece of the larger puzzle.

I love being Canadian because it is the country where I was born. Most of my ancestors back many generations were born here too. For the next year, week by week and month by month, reflections on what it means to be Canadian will be written. Where the 150 items will take me and you will be the year's journey. From coast to coast, to local to our international image could be included. So although becoming a regular feature of this blog, other themes will continue to coexist.
