The Farewell Brothers from Oshawa had a part to play in the Ball Point story. They had a huge role in the murder and the story of the sinking of the Speedie.

I have tried to include the references with the Farewell brothers and Ball Point. Their comprehensive history can be found in many resources on the history of Oshawa. For the purposes of these series of articles on Ball Point only the references and connections to our little cape is referenced.

NANA SAYS ARE YOU READY FOR THE SUMMER BREAK

Most parents have booked camps and events and travels eons ago. But sometimes there are gaps in planning and what to do with certain days or weeks with the kids.
As a Nana I have offered to be backup as I still want to enjoy spending some time with my grandchildren.
Not long day trips. Trying for within an hour of home for various reasons.
I did the car travel with my own children when they were little and well not always pleasant.
So want simple events like Canada Day or other celebrations.
Richmond Hill has some free events for adults and children. Like the Mill Pond events.
Picnics. Black Creek Pioneer Village. The Toronto Zoo. Even a visit to Downtown Toronto. Visiting the smaller communities in and around the GTA.
Of course would love to take them to a Farmer's Market.
I have no big travel plans so these small excursions suit me just fine.

LET'S NOT LET THE RAPTORS PARTY BE MARRED BY THE VIOLENT INCIDENT

To have the throngs of people peacefully celebrating the Raptors Championship in the city of Toronto was an event to remember.
Our prayers and thoughts go to the people injured in the shooting incident. And to their families.
The police did a wonderful job. Suspects in custody.
The Metrolink team in moving people around and out of the city was an incredible task. They had not seen so many people go through Union Station and other subway stations ever!! People were told to take public transit.
A day to remember!
Well I watched on TV but one daughter and grandchildren attended the event. How about you? Where were you in the celebrations?

RAPTORS DAY IN TORONTO JUNE 17 2019

Watching the festivities and parade route on TV. One daughter and 3 grandchildren going to the parade. The downtown core is rammed with people. Lots to celebrate.
I can text my daughter and let her know how things are progressing. I have a good seat. How about you are you in downtown Toronto?

BARB'S GENEALOGY TIDBITS- BALL POINT- FIRST OWNER- WILLIAM WARREN BALDWIN

It is always interesting to know who owned the land before we did. Ball Point, Mariposa Township, Victoria County ( City of Kawartha Lakes) Ontario has been in our family since the 1840s. Once the Treaty #20 was signed Crown patents occurred.
The following essay is another chapter in the history of Ball Point.

WE THE NORTH- CANADA IS A CHAMPION

Winning a major title always feels good. For people to celebrate without incident is always a good thing. So to hear there was a shooting during last night's celebrations dampers the mood.

For all that have celebrated. Take those feelings and apply to your life. Become your own champion in whatever you do.

Love our Toronto Raptors. They have become Canada's team. It was so pleasurable to see fans celebrating coast to coast.

I even woke up and went to celebrate with my hubby. He could vent about the game and cheer and well have some fun.
