CANADA READY FOR THE NEXT STEPS AFTER OUR ELECTION

Time to dig in our heels to fight for our rights and rhetoric from the South.

Canadians are insulted. We do feel betrayed.

As a sovereign nation like other democracies  in the free world, we can take care of our own people.

Some want a soft approach but it will not work. Push back.

International laws need to be visited. Complaints to higher bodies of law.

United Nations.

NATO.

Yes we are strong and free and will stand our ground. Coast to coast to coast.

GARDEN NEEDS WORK BUT MORE FUN TO TAKE PHOTOS

So I did a little local trip on Sunday to Richmond Green to take some photos.

Muskoka chairs are everywhere.
A trunk with U branches.
A row of daffodils
Empty bleachers waiting for a game to begin.
A child's playground piece wanting to give some fun to a youngster.

The brown rushes by the pond before the spring green arrives.

Always looking for shadows.

So a good outing with some okay photos. Time to decide to see more places close to home and grab those captures.

CANADIAN ELECTION OVER-NOW IS THE TIME TO SUPPORT ALL CANADIANS AND PLAN TRAVEL IN CANADA

 Buying Canadian.

Supporting Canadians.

I am trying to decide where to travel in Canada to support Canadians.

Alberta is beautiful.

The Maritimes.

Winnipeg has some interesting sites to see.

Ontario is more affordable for me but I would like to see something in other parts of the country.

How are you supporting Canada and Canadians? What can I do to support your concerns about our beautiful country? How can we have our differences but still support each other?

NANA SAYS I CELEBRATE A GRANDSON'S BIRTHDAY FOR BOTH OF US

Brody turns 17 today. So on every grandchild's birthday I celebrate for both Adolph and me.

He was able to meet and greet all his grandchildren. They knew him.

Remembering how we both embraced being grandparents- nana and grandpa.

He did not want to be called Nonno in the Italian style but grandpa in the English style.

For me, I simply wish Adolph could be here to celebrate with me too.

I always think if we had not loved each other and married life would have been so different.

The grandchildren have always been a blessing to us.

Here's to birthdays and especially birthdays of grandchildren.

MAPLE SYRUP- A CANADIAN TRADITION-SO THE MAYOR'S FESTIVAL WAS A GOOD TIME

Part of one community agency at Mayor West's Maple Syrup Festival.

Took over 110 photos but not in any of mine.

Then tagged in a friend's photos.

A our table for the Richmond Hill Historical Society selling Carrick Brother Maple Syrup as a fund raiser.
Fun day for all.

RESILIENCE IS THE KEY TO A GOOD LIFE-MIGHT NOT ALWAYS BE HAPPY BUT GETTING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES IS GOOD ENOUGH

Resilience in life makes for a good life.

So this week needed an emergency dental procedure to get to the office and the dentist was sick.

Rescheduled for next week but then they changed it for today. Good thing I called about the antibiotics and needing a new script.

A main water break on the street and dirty sandy muck half way up my driveway. No it did not affect my car yeah.

The thermostat for my furnace died and I needed the service technician. Good thing I have an Enercare Plan.

At least with all this stress I lost a pound.

So resilience. Ready for what is next.

BARB'S GENEALOGY TIDBITS-VIMY RIDGE DOCUMENTARY ON VIMY UNDERGROUND- ERNEST ELLIS WAS THERE

So on march 12th flipping the shows on Prime I stumbled upon a documentary on Vimy Ridge.

It was about a cave underground in France close to the Vimy Ridge battlefield.

The documentary was made in 2007. The 90th anniversary of the Vimy Ridge battle.

It can be seen on You Tube. This is the link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8P5BhUn8R10

Or just google Vimy ridge underground tunnels and you will find the site.

The following link is very information information by Veterans Affairs about the Vimy Ridge tunnels.

https://public.cdn.cloud.veterans.gc.ca/pdf/memorials/overseas/TunnelTrenchBrochure-e.pdf

I have written other posts on this Blog about Ernie Ellis and his war efforts.

If you want posts on August 5, 2014;  April 9, 2015; May 15, 2019; April 9, 2022 and April 9, 2023.

I have detailed so much about Ernie's involvement. And in 2014 I made certificates for all our family members.

The Anniversary of Vimy Ridge is April 8.

1917 was the epic year for Canadians.

It is always good to honour and remember our military role in the world.

I don't have a photo of Ernie in uniform. The above photo is close to the time he served in World War One.

I wrote this article and posted to several facebook pages.

I always like to talk about Ernie's story to my grandchildren. Remembering all who served for Canada.

CN TOWER- 50 YEARS OLD-APRIL 3 2025- A CANADIAN BEACON FOR ALL

For anyone living in the GTA, we know our directions by the visibility of the CN Tower.

!975 was the banner year. Public were able to visit in 1976. The history of the building of the tower can be researched online.

Along with Niagara Falls, a visit to the CN Tower is a must.

What is important is it looks in all direction with its circular shape. To the West, to the East, to the South and to the North. It is a Canadian icon.

2015 images.

A fountain at the base.

Looking up to the tope.

Our 45th Anniversary day trip to Harbour Front and cruise by the Islands. Photos from the boat.

A plane landing at the Island Airport. No it did not hit the tower.

Some photos from the boat of the skyline.

Downtown to a musical on King and there it is the CN Tower.

At the CNE Dufferin Gates and the tower is in the background 2017.

Visiting the Distillery District and the Tower looms.

2021 a jaunt downtown.

Pictures from the CNE 2022.

Another downtown shot of the Tower.

The Toronto skyline from Mimico with friends for a day out with lunch.

The real picture I need to take is one from the top of the tower. So if anyone is visiting me then it would be a good time to go up the tower and accomplish that feat.

Anyway, happy birthday CN Tower.

IT'S NO APRIL FOOL'S JOKE- THE WORLD IS IN CHAOS-BUT CANADA WILL GET THROUGH IT

No matter how hard I try to stay positive the threat of all that is happening in the world and the nonsense heading our way from America has made me nervous.

Does anyone else feel that the nightmare is fake and just want to wake up?

I saw a wonderful clip by the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador- Mr. Fleury. He basically said Canada did not ask for these trade war threats.

He did say in his 15 minute interview with CNN that he has never seen Canadians rallying around Canada and each other as there are doing now.

During the Pandemic we rallied but not like this. This is even better.

So maybe the threat has made us stronger and not weaker or scared.

I can do it. We can do it. And we will.

So no joke we will do it.
