Celine Dion had a CD about "Taking Chances". We can be told we must take some chances to experience life. But do we need to gamble. Expressions like- Life is a Crap shoot! You win some, you lose some. Know when to hold them and when to fold them can apply to more than a good poker hand. Is taking a chance the same as a gamble? Buying lottery tickets is a real gamble! So is a horse race but your chances of winning are better than a ticket. Can we up the odds! Love is a gamble! Going after a new position at work can be a huge gamble! Your current boss must give you a reference! Do you gamble at real gambling? Or do you take a chance at some things in life? What is the biggest gamble you ever took? Do you leave things to chance? Or are you more pragmatic?
Trying to beat the odds with lottery tickets or other forms of gambling just leaves you with less money. Occasionally, you may win; mostly, you lose.
