As the days start to get shorter, one of the continued joys of summer is the fruit. All of it! Buying baskets of items like peaches instead of 5 in a bag in the winter, laden our homes with fresh fruit. For those that can or make jam, the fruit is a welcome addition to the home. Reminders of olden days when canning or drying the fruit for winter often stored in a home's cold cellar was the norm! We just love to eat it! I might make Adolph some grape jam when the grapes are ready- his favourite! Continued trips to farms or roadside booths with fresh veggies-especially corn now are simple summer pleasures!
We've really been enjoying fruits and vegetables bought at farmer's markets, roadside stands, and even our local Safeway. And, of course, going out on our deck and picking fresh herbs and tomatoes from our pots. It's a good time of the year!
